“Often we all seek purpose in life.”
“Often we all seek purpose in life. Not everyone has found it yet. Sometimes it is found in the middle of pushing a lawnmower in the heat of an august day in Texas. Other times could include simple silence and serenity to reflect internally in hopes of reaching that which drives us all to keep pushing through!” Well, I am no exception!”
I was simply watching me make choices and deicisions over the course of 3 years and I continually saw something. I was not functioning with my purpose but against my purpose. I apparently had forgotten why I love God so much and became too wrapped up in my own daily living routines. You know the ones. Wake up. Yawn. Brush. Wash. Floss. Eat. Leave. Drive. Arrive. Work. Lunch. Work again. Finish work. Drive home. ARrive. Listen, look, feel. Sleep to wake again and continue the process. There is nothing wrong with the routine except for one thing. I had lost my focus. When focus is lost even for a brief interruption direction is misguided or simply altered. The best way to regain that focus is to simply take a moment of silence and only reflect. Don’t choose or make decisions during this time. Simply view it as an overview of accumulated choices and decisions made. This keeps you clear of losing focus and helps you to see how things appear in life as opposed to what we believe we are looking at in life.
“I know how to pray, but do I pray how to know?” One thing that God does best is give you what you are needing. Do you at one point in your life realize what you need has nothing to do with what you want, however what you want has everything to do with what you need? Our needs drive us to higher feets of accomplishment, however often times during the strive for the need we’ve gotten lost in focus and believed the wanting more so than the need. Case in point I and my daughter are good friends. She also has a best friend. My daughter needs her daddy’s love as most special parenting relationships do and I need my daughters love as most parents do. The difference between she and I is that only one of us actuallys admits to what they want is not necessarily a need! My daughter is a wise person in a child’s body. I have been working diligently over a period of time attempting to develop my musical skills and abilities. I felt that (and I still do) if I become successful in the music industry that I could finally gain the respect of family, friends, strangers, and admirers. Well, one day she and I were discussing her cousin “Key-Kay” and his musical career and being famous came up. My daughter said to me, ” daddy I don’t want you to become famous because everyone would start calling the house, taking pictures, and following us around everywhere.” Then she hugs me real tight and doesn’t let go for a few minutes.
I thought I needed the world to validate me yet instead I have one shining star in my galaxy that authenticates me enough 10 times over one world. We don’t always need what we want but always want what we need! I am still striving for this dream of music entertainment but it does not govern my purpose it only fuels it!
